 Lara Stone is proclaimed "the girl of the year" on the cover of December's Wonderful issue of Vogue. Inside, Mario Testino calls her "the embodiment of beauty", while writer Vassi Chamberlain says that "not since Corrine Day's photographs of a young Kate Moss 16 years ago have a model's face and body been the subject of so much attention."

Discovered on the Paris Metro at the age of 12 by the wife of an Elite scout, Lara returned to her home in Mierlo in the Netherlands before entering (but not winning), the Dutch Elite modelling competition. A year later she convinced her parents to let her move to Paris to pursue a modelling career.
